Lawmakers are considering extending the time frame for closings for buyers that qualified for the recent home buyer tax credit program. The proposal would allow buyers that were under contract by April 30, 2010 to close on their properties by September 30, 2010 instead of the current deadline of June 30, 2010.

Lenders and real estate agents have expressed concern that many people that met the contract deadline will not be able to close by the June 30th closing deadline due to delays with mortgage programs, etc.
