Murray Hill has a thriving business district along Edgewood Avenue South, allowing residents the convenience of taking care of most of their shopping and entertainment needs right there in the neighborhood. You won’t want to miss Edgewood Bakery, Moon River Pizza and Dreamette. Also worth a look are the many upscale consignment and gift shops, the Doing Dishes pottery studio, and the Perfect Rack Billiards.

Murray Hill also offers many great parks. A playground with water feature and baseball facilities can be found at Murray Hill Playground. For more leisurely activities, there is Four Corners Park with lighted walking paths and a dog comfort station for your four-legged friends. Powers Park, in the middle of a construction project right now, also offers wide open spaces to play and picnic. Learn pottery and painting skills through low-cost programs offered at the Murray Hill Art Center. Summer art camps and after school programs are also offered at the center.

The active neighborhood association, Murray Hill Preservation Association, plans quarterly events such as a spaghetti dinner, antique appraisal fair and ice cream social and a holiday event. One of the neighborhood churches, Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, offers outdoor movies in the summer. Murray Hill Baptist Church hosts a Fall Festival every Halloween. There are scout troops that meet throughout the neighborhood as well as a well-run baseball/t-ball league, the Murray Hill Athletic Association. A community garden is in the planning stages as well.

Looking for something a little more “adult”? Check out the wine tastings at Wine Warehouse or watch the tattoo artists at work at Rampant Lion Tattoos. You can also venture into one of several pubs in the neighborhood.
