One of the first suburbs of Jacksonville, Murray Hill has come a long way from its distinctly rural roots. Over the last decade, the neighborhood saw a revitalization thanks to new homeowners and real estate investors that discovered the charm of the predominantly 1920′s to 1940′s bungalows that grace the neighborhood.

Murray Hill residents enjoy a very active neighborhood association, Murray Hill Preservation Association, which works to provide a forum to implement community projects and events. MHPA coordinates an annual antique appraisal fair and ice cream social, a home tour, a spaghetti dinner social and a holiday event. Members are active volunteers working on projects from a community garden and landscaping to forming a Friends of the Murray Hill Library group.

The parks in the neighborhood are quite popular, with homes on the park or close to the park commanding a higher sales price.

Housing options are many and varied. The neighborhood developed over several decades, and the housing stock reflects everything from 1920′s brick bungalows to post-war workforce housing, 1960′s ranch homes and newly built historically accurate new construction. The neighborhood remains one of the most affordable in Jacksonville and is desirable for its proximity to downtown and major highways.
